The Belsize Park Home Project

The Challenge

Originally our clients in Belsize approached us to assist with a bespoke wardrobe. However, after installing a new kitchen they were ready to take on more of the home. The ensuite was our first task, which was a space that desperately needed doing. It was old, outdated and overdue for a refresh. The clients wanted a more modern look. Alongside there was a need for new wardrobes.  We assessed the area as a whole, deciding it would be best to replan the layout for the entire space. Factoring in a new built-in wardrobe and a new sized bathroom.

The Solution

The Bathroom

Upon deciding this, we worked on creating a scheme to fit with their budget. This allowed for us to supply Neutra fittings but order tiles from a local supplier. We opted to add a duck egg blue tile on the floor. Further, we felt we needed the bathroom to become an intrinsic part of the home. The new size of the bathroom accommodated a new bath, large sink and storage unit, corner shower and a false wall allowing for hidden storage. Evidently, resulting in a cleaner, more modern-looking space. The tiles, sink and unit were supplied from our brand partner Neutra.

The Bedroom

The bedroom became part of the design thereafter as the client felt the space needed to reflect one another. With a small budget left we suggested a few changes to space. Ones that wouldn’t require much cost but would make a massive difference. Nevertheless, we provided wallpaper samples that matched the tiles  from Arte. This allowed us to add a modern feel but still within a period aesthetic to space.

The oversized windows of this period property on Belsize Lane were given a makeover. Blinds and sheer curtains were added to frame the windows whilst adding privacy. The bespoke wardrobes were created by a collaboration with a talented cabinetry maker. He effectively utilised our drawings to create a personalised storage unit in a warm walnut colour. To create a base for the walnut and these warm tones we opted to stain the original wood flooring a dark black. Thus creating a narrative from the master bedroom through to the bathroom. Finally, once the room scheme was created we were able to allocate a budget to replace the light fittings and for new furniture.

The Outcome

In early November our builders went into work and we were able to project manage from just up the road! Now our clients have a beautiful and practical space that works for them. And a design that is still entirely in keeping with the rest of this traditional Belsize home.

We wanted our bedroom and ensuite bathroom to be updated, but in a way that works with the rest of our Victorian period flat whilst introducing a modern twist. We have therefore been so pleased to have discovered Carly & Molly of NW3 Interiors as they have achieved a wonderful outcome that we are very happy with.
From the outset we were impressed by their knowledge and experience and passion for their work and the respect for the clients’ wishes – there was never a sense of them simply wanting to impose their own ideas.  As a result, we trusted their suggestions and ideas which have transformed our space in a way that we would never have been able to achieve on our own. One of their great ideas was to combine a small dressing area with the existing bathroom to give a much more generous and luxurious bathroom.
The building firm they recommended for undertaking the work was professional, highly skilled and a pleasure to work with. Carly kept a close check on the works while they were being carried out.
Apart from undertaking the design itself, we found their knowledge of local firms as well as of manufacturers and stores from which to choose the furnishings and fittings very useful. This has resulted in the creation of a warm, classy, modern bedroom and en suite bathroom which are a joy to use and blends in well with our period home.
We have no hesitation in recommending NW3 Interiors to prospective clients wishing to transform their living space.
