Carly’s Conclusions!

The furniture fair: Salone Del Mobile was buzzing last week with designers from across the world congregating in Milan excited to see the best brands in the business show-casing their finest furniture, lighting and accessory collections.

I was proud to be representing NW3 Interiors for the first time. Managing to visit the main fair, the huge exhibition warehouses (for example the Dutch duo – Moooi), the glass showrooms in central Milano plus the old town (Brera Design District).  Each space was impressive however I particularly enjoyed wandering the old town streets searching for up and coming designs where I found a stunning future classic ‘made-in-England’ chair design and beautiful modern art and accessories.  Presenting… Carly’s conclusions…

Moooi filled an entire warehouse with huge lighting displays and cutting edge furniture collections.  After a decade of research, a digital rug and carpet printer has been developed and trust the Dutch to get in on the action and show some amazing floor and wall coverings. They were bright, vibrant and extremely impressive.  Further images on Pinterest or Facebook.

trending colours

Soft rich varieties of brown and greige filled the Italian furniture displays mixed with rosy pink velvet for added texture and dark wood for the structure of the furniture. These combinations were best seen at Flexform,  B&B Italia, Poliform and Lema. Further images on Pinterest or Facebook.

which new brandS would my client love?

Twils – Twils have a striking knack of combining modern style with ethnic colours. Their textiles from Africa along with tall brass book shelving and clean lines made this brand’s exquisite style stand out from the crowd and would work well in period homes in the North London areas. Further images on Pinterest or Facebook.

Hot New Classic CHAIR

In a back street I stumbled across The Alpha Chair.  The design would sit very neatly alongside any established iconic piece from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. The back of the chair is slim and organic, similar to an Arne Jacobson or Eero Saarinen classic – but still distinctive.  As it’s designed and made in London, the lead times and price should be favourable.  Further images on Pinterest or Facebook.
